• Joy

When students create in the art studio……joy happens. You will recognize it in a smile, a shared moment of exuberant silliness, an atmosphere of buoyant energy. Spontaneous creativity, the spark of inspiration, a feeling of rightness in the expression of a line, a color choice, an experience with the paint…..all are markers that indicate the vastness of our potential to create and to take joy in the process.

There is no greater joy than that of feeling oneself a creator.

The triumph of life is expressed by creation.

    (Henri Bergson)

He who binds to himself a joy / Does the winged life destroy; /

But he who kisses the joy as it flies / Lives in eternity's sun rise.

    (William Blake)

I cannot believe that the inscrutable universe turns

on an axis of suffering; surely the strange beauty of the world

must somewhere rest on pure joy!
