The MAC Academy is designed for 16 to 24 year olds who are not enrolled in school. The MAC Program (Making A Change) assists students with job applications, resume writing, obtaining a driver’s license, and other daily life skills such as banking and learning how to live a healthy lifestyle. The program also offers instruction in obtaining a High School Equivalency Diploma, English (day and evening classes and tutoring) and even an opportunity to participate in one of our Career Training Programs, such as Nursing Assistant, Culinary, Electrical, Automotive Technology and Building Maintenance.
The program is unique because students are given an opportunity to learn about the community where they live by touring key points of interests around town and giving back by volunteering once a week at places like the Salvation Army and soup kitchens.
MAC Academy students at OACES celebrated their accomplishments:

Community partners from Rochester attended the Award CeremonyMAC Academy participants built garden beds by learning how to use a drill, painting frames, and filling beds with top soil. Students evidenced work skills of initiative, teamwork, and good attitude. Through hands-on learning, our group gave back to the community. This is our second year working on this garden.
