Middle school is the first year that your child will be riding the RTS buses to school. We know that this can be exciting but also a little bit scary; especially for parents.
How do I know what bus I ride?
During the last week of August, you will receive a mailing from the district with a letter that states your bus route along with a map that shows bus stops and drop off/pick-up times for all buses. Students who live within 1.5 miles of the Franklin Campus are designated as walkers and will not be assigned an RTS bus.
What do I need to get on the bus?
You will need a bus pass to ride RTS. A temporary bus pass is mailed home with your child's bus route. That bus pass is good for the first 3 days of school. Your child will receive their permanent bus pass/student ID from the teachers during the first three days of school.
What if I lose my bus pass?
Students can be issued one replacement ID/bus pass free of charge. Students should let the main office know if they need a new bus pass. The second replacement must be ordered through Transportation and has a fee of $5.
Can I get on the bus without my bus pass?
Bus drivers will not allow a student without an ID on the bus. If a student is missing their bus pass, they should check in with the FLS main office. We will see if we can order a new ID and will make sure that an adults gets them on their bus at the end of the day.
What if I miss my bus?
If you miss your bus in the morning, it is the families' responsibility to decide how you are getting to school that day. If you miss your bus in the afternoon, please find an FLS adult or go to the main office. The school will work with your family to make sure that you get home safely.
