    Who was Loretta Johnson?

Loretta Johnson was a trailblazing educator and administrator. Mrs. Johnson's remarkable career in the Rochester school district began in 1969 when she moved to Rochester and taught elementary school. She made history by becoming the first woman to lead the district as Interim Superintendent from 1994 to 1995 and led our school system in the first local school reform movement.

Mrs. Johnson believed in investment in early education, setting ambitious standards for student achievement, increasing community involvement, and combating the effects of poverty and racism.
