    At TMMS, we believe that language is a bridge—not a barrier. Our Bilingual Education Program is designed to serve all members of our school community—students, families, staff, and community partners—by promoting academic excellence, bilingualism, and cross-cultural understanding.

    🗣️ What is a Dual Language Program?

    Our Dual Language Program follows a two-way immersion model in which students from Spanish-speaking and English-speaking backgrounds learn together in both languages. Instruction is provided in English and Spanish across subjects to develop strong skills in: 

    • Reading and Writing
    • Speaking and Listening
    • Academic Vocabulary 
    • Cultural Competence

    All students—regardless of their first language—learn side by side, gaining full proficiency in both languages over time.

    🌟 The Power of Bilingualism & Biculturalism 🌟

    Research shows that students in dual language programs outperform their monolingual (English only) peers academically while also developing: 

    • Cognitive Function: increased brain development 
    • Stronger Problem-Solving Skills 
    • Understanding and Appreciation of Cultural Diversity
    • Preparation for a Global Society.

    But beyond the data, we believe bilingualism is a right, not a privilege. At our school, we don’t ask students to leave a part of themselves at the door—we welcome their whole identity. 

    ESL Support for Multilingual Learners

    For students who speak languages other than English or Spanish—such as Arabic, Somali, Nepali, and more—our English as a Second Language (ESL) program offers targeted language instruction, cultural integration support, and scaffolded academic help.

    We honor all languages and backgrounds. Our ESL educators work closely with classroom teachers to ensure every multilingual learner has access to grade-level content and is empowered to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
