Rochester City School District Board of Education Wellness Policy
-
School Districts that participate in the USDA Child Nutrition Program are required by law to establish a local wellness policy. The purpose of this policy is to set goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and guidelines for food and beverages that are available on school campuses during the school day. The RCSD Food Services Department’s goal is to provide transparency to the public on the school nutrition environment. For more information, please review the Nutrition Regulation of the Board of Education’s Wellness Policy 5405. You can read the full Wellness Policy here
The results of a recent assessment of the Wellness Policy, conducted by Healthi Kids, can be viewed here.
District-wide Food Bans

In an effort to reduce the risk of accidental food allergen exposure, the RCSD Food Service Department has implemented district-wide bans that include peanuts, tree-nuts (i.e., walnuts, almonds, pecans, cashews, pistachios, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, macadamia & chestnuts). In addition, RCSD Foodservice does not serve pork.
