Four-Sport Student-Athlete Hosts Football Camp at Edison Career and Technology High School

(July 11, 2024) This Saturday, Edison Career and Technology High School will buzz with excitement as Marquan Grimes, an incoming senior and four-sport athlete, hosts a football camp for youth in the community.  Marquan, recognized as an All-American athlete and a member of the District's Student Leadership Congress, has organized this event to share his passion for football and community service. The camp, fully booked with 55 students aged 6 – 12, aims to provide a fun and engaging experience.

“I love the game of football, and I want others to love it too,” said Marquan.  His initiative stems from a recent realization while attending church one Sunday: why wait until college to give back?

The camp will run from 9:30 until 11:15 a.m., packed with drills led by student-athletes from Edison’s football team and Edison/World of Inquiry’s girls’ flag football team.  The camp's motto, “Be the reason someone still sees good in the world,” reflects Marquan’s commitment to positivity and mentorship.

Sponsors like WDKX and Foodlink are supporting the event.  Foodlink will provide snacks for the campers, ensuring they stay fueled for the activities ahead.

Marquan hopes the camp will inspire youth athletes and encourage them to make a positive impact in their community.
