Our Logo

  • The Rochester City School District (RCSD) logo is a combination of the symbol and name of the organization. The RCSD logo is combined from two elements: the logo symbol and the logotype. The symbol, illustrated as a child with a book, represents the guiding principles of the District.

The logotype uses the font Geometric 231 bold and regular in all uppercase. The tag line included with the other variation uses the font Lato, a clean san serif font that works well with Geometric 231. The colors used are the RCSD’s standard dark blue and yellow colors, a classic color scheme that allows for a pop of color when needed.

*Note: a black and white version of the logo will also be available for very specific scenarios such as single color printing or dark backgrounds.

  • The RCSD logo is presented through its use of color and shape. However, there are two variations that are acceptable depending on the usage case.

  • Variation 1 is the standard logo with symbol and logotype. This logo is used for pieces where the RCSD is represented in collaboration with a partnering organization, or when space constraints are a concern with other information, i.e. business cards, small promotional items, etc.

    Minimum size: 0.75"height

  • Variation 2 is the logo with the symbol and logotype broken out to give the design more flexibility. This can be used in the same cases as Variation 1, in collaboration with a partnering organization or when space constraints are a concern with other information, i.e. business cards, small promotional items, etc.

    Minimum size: 2" width

  • CMYK vs RGB

CMYK is used for printed pieces. Anything being created that will be printed (and printed only) should use the CMYK version of the logo. RGB is for digital use. PowerPoint presentations, online presence, and website are common uses for RGB. If you are using a piece for both, use the RGB file.

    PNG vs EPS

PNG files are image files that can be uploaded to the website, on Word documents, Publisher files, etc. The EPS file is used to send to outside vendors for printing. Many times, printers will ask for a vector file. If you need an EPS file please reach out to isaias.neives@rcsdk12.org.

    Color vs Black vs White

Try to use the color version of the logo at all times. The only time the black color or white color logo should be used is when it is placed on a dark background or a background that is very close in color to the RCSD blue.
