Tips for Good Attendance
- Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine.
- Schedule medical appointments outside of school hours when possible.
- Plan vacations and travel during school breaks.
- Communicate with the school about any attendance concerns or barriers.
- Use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to track attendance in real time
School-Based Support - Schools offer multiple layers of support to help address attendance barriers.
- School attendance teams monitor student attendance and implement interventions.
- School Counselors and Social Workers provide academic, emotional, and mental health support.
District Resources - RCSD offers several programs to assist families:
- Families In Transition – Assisting families experiencing housing instability
- Student Support Services – supports student academic, physical, social-emotional, and management needs, including those with special needs.
- Student Health Services – Addressing medical needs that impact attendance
ROC Resources - The City of Rochester offers many programs:
- Employment (adults) – Employment information & job opportunities
- Employment (youth) – Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP)
- Department of Recreation and Human Services (DRHS) – Programs and Services available to city residents.
